If you’re looking for a hostel that is uniquely Vancouver, you need to stay with us at the Cambie Hostel @ Gastown! We’ve had decades of experience establishing ourselves as a Vancouver legend and we’re ready to help YOU have a legendary time in Vancouver! Our hostel is close to attractions, restaurants, transportation centres, and nightlife - and if you’re overwhelmed by the choices we have a kick-ass staff that can help you plan your time while you’re here.
From beer to bed to breakfast the Cambie Hostel @ Gastown is the best way to stay in the most historic district in the city. You can party like a local downstairs at the busiest bar in BC or chill upstairs with travelers from around the world in the hostel common room equipped with full kitchen amenities. And when the day is done and you’re falling asleep in a comfortable double bed, you can look forward to the best breakfast in the city when you wake up (free muffin and coffee or a small fee for a continental breakfast with hash browns, toast, eggs, and sausage/ham/bacon).
Home to one of Vancouver's busiest and most diverse bars, The Cambie has become a Vancouver institution. Rock and Roll, Hip Hop, Classics, and pretty much everything else resound off the jukebox nightly. If you fit into a scene or live outside the mainstream you belong in our bar. Students, artists, scenesters, hipsters and professionals (basically everyone) pack the bar every night so it is never the same.
Please note: We are unable to check in guests under the age of 19 or people who reside in the Lower Mainland of Vancouver (ie. locals)
Save off our already low nightly prices by buying our super-saving Cambie Membership card for $15. The card discounts the price at all Cambie hostel locations (Vancouver and Nanaimo). Membership also gives you 10% off food and Cambie merchandise, and ridiculous deals on activities for the adventurous traveler like whitewater rafting, adventure tours, skydiving, bungee jumping, kayaking, scuba diving, sporting events and more!!
Please Note: Cambie Member Card holders receive the discount off the original bed rate only, excluding the 10% booking deposit.
Bookings of 2 or more persons made in dormitory rooms are NOT guaranteed to be in the same room at the time of check in.
We require 48 hours for cancellation. The total of the first night's stay will be charged to the credit card of the guest that does not arrive on the reserved day of check-in and has not cancelled in time.

Reviews & Ratings carinaschmidtknorreck1915 from Germany stayed here on 30th August 2010 Small and simple rooms but clean. Huge beds and very helpful staff. Some of the rooms are very loud because of the bar in the same building. Fortunately we had a room on the 2nd floor quite far from the bar so that we could sleep without earplugs. The washrooms were very simple and there were leaks everywhere. Great atmosphere in the bar and for sure a place to have fun! | Mixed Group 25-30 | kaugustavo2123 from USA stayed here on 27th August 2010 It is very loud at night due to the bar below. | Couple 25-30 | Meagan from Australia stayed here on 21st August 2010 The location wasn't the best and it is only 2 streets away from the drug area which we didn't know when we booked it. Don't go on East Hastings St near China Town! Most staff were friendly enough. Free coffee and muffin in the morning. Muffins were huge and delicious! Or you could upgrade for $2.75 and get a cooked breakfast. | Couple 25-30 | lindseyrosecoop from USA stayed here on 20th August 2010 it was a great location and for two younger people who have stayed at quite a few hostels, we loved it, great location and bar downstairs | Couple 18-24 | dlinares78 from Spain stayed here on 18th August 2010 Very big hostel. The ground floor is a really noisy pub. Difficult to sleep. On the positive side, the beds are really big. Friendly staff. | | paxtothemax stayed here on 15th August 2010 It was hotter than hell when I was there, I could not sleep. However it was also super hot for Van, so normally you would not have to worry about that. It may not have been the cleanest place I've ever been in but the beds were nice. The kitchen and common room were lovely, with nice big windows that made for the smoking of a joint without management finding out is a plus or negative depending on how you swing. The bar is lovely and has as cheep of beer as you can find in BC. The location is kinda sketch, | | Curtamerosis stayed here on 13th August 2010 The Cambie is a fun and lively joint, complete with warped floor boards and showers that don't keep a constant temperature... It's great for hitting the bar and having a big night... The people are real characters and the beds suck. Still fun though... Like a happy Fight Club house. | | kate_8 stayed here on 09th August 2010 Great party location with pub attached. Well priced with breakfast included. Only complaint would be the washrooms and showers.... No privacy and not even a hook to hang a towel. That aside, it was a great stay. | | rupertwieser1448 stayed here on 09th August 2010 stay as you are, maybe a little bit more clan... I liked it, will come back again! | | janeeauger355 stayed here on 06th August 2010 BRING EARPLUGS! Noisy at night, especially if you are above the bar, but with ear plugs we had a very excellent sleep...rooms on the top floor are the best! 207 was awesome, great view of the Cambie Street and Cordova. Also great view of the mountains. The common room and kitchen was alright, although the kitchen was a little lacking and one of the burners on the stove was busted. All in all we had a fun time at the Cambie-Gastown, the bar on the main floor had cheap, tasty pub food and inexpensive drinks, | | | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | | | |
